August '10 ABL-to-MiLB Update: N-Z

Catching up on some more former ABLers in the minor leagues

If you read my ABL-to-MiLB update last week, you knew that an article catching up with our former ABL players now in minor league baseball was coming up. Well, here it is. I've got all the rest of the guys in affiliated ball, alphabetically, N through Z.

Of course, the big stories here are Danny Valencia (Pilots, 2005) and Robbie Weinhardt (Fire, 2005-06), who have been promoted to the major leagues. Weinhardt has struggled a little bit with the Detroit Tigers as of late, but heading into September I imagine he'll stick around for the remainder of the season and battle for a spot in spring training. Valencia, on the other hand, has been tearing it up for the Minnesota Twins and I imagine that he'll also stick around for a while. 

OK, with that out of the way, I just want to mention that I'll do a third post about players who were last seen in independent leagues, or as free agents, since the two kind of go hand in hand. Promoted to the Buffalo Bisons of the AAA International League.


Pat Overholt (Bucs, 2003)
Signed with Lancaster of the independent Atlantic League.

Matt Oye (Miners, 2006)
Assigned to single-A Cedar Rapids of the Midwest League.


Tony Pechek (Pilots, 2007)
Assigned to rookie-level Helena of the Pioneer League.

David Phelps (Miners, 2006)
Promoted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the AAA International League.

Sean Ratliff (Bucs, 2007)
Promoted to Binghamton of the AA Eastern League.

Garrett Richards (Miners, 2008)
Promoted to single-A Rancho Cucamonga of the California League.

Rick Rivas (Pilots, 2003-04)
Assigned to rookie-level Ogden of the Pioneer League.

Brandon Roberts (Bucs, 2004)
Promoted to AAA Rochester of the International League. Batting .342 in AAA, .328 on the minor league season.

B.J. Rosenberg (Miners, 2005)
Promoted to AA Reading of the Eastern League.

Tyson Ross (Bucs, 2006)
Assigned to AAA Sacramento of the Pacific Coast League.

Zachary Rosscup (Panners, 2009)
Promoted to Hudson Valley of the class A short season New York-Penn League.

Charles Ruiz (Miners, 2008)
Sent to short-season Tri-City of the Northwest League.

Mark Saccomanno (Pilots, 2000)
Promoted to AAA New Orleans of the Pacific Coast League. Hitting .290 with 5 HR in 124 AB at AAA level this season.

Josh Satin (Miners, 2004)
Promoted to AA Binghamton of the Eastern League. Hitting at a .321 average between A and AA on the year.

Josh Satow (Pilots, 2005)
Promoted to AA Montgomery of the Southern League.

Ryan Scoma (Panners, 2008)
Assigned to short-season Salem-Keizer of the Northwest League. Hitting at a .322 average on the year.

Xavier Scruggs (Fire, 2006)
Promoted to AA Springfield of the Texas League.

Daniel Stange (Miners, 2004)
Sent down to AA Mobile of the Eastern League. 2.35 ERA with a .125 average against since being sent to AA.

Jon Still (Pilots, 2004)
Remains on the Red Sox temporary inactive list.

Tobias Streich (Fire, 2008)
Assigned to class-A Fort Myers of the Florida State League.

Ryan Tatusko (Oilers, 2006)
Traded to the Washington Nationals and assigned to AA Harrisburg of the Eastern League. Part of the Christian Guzman deal.

Mark Thompson (Panners, 2005-06)
Released by the Cleveland Indians.

Chad Tracy (Oilers, 2005)
Sent to rookie-level Arizona League on rehab assignment by the Texas Rangers.

Chris Tremblay (Panners, 2007)
Sent to short-season Eugene of the Northwest League.

Daniel Turpen (Miners, 2006)
Traded to the Boston Red Sox and assigned to AA Portland of the Eastern League.

Promoted to MLB Minnesota Twins. .331 avg so far in the big leagues.

Promoted to class-A Fort Myers of the Florida State League.

Casey Weathers (Pilots, 2006)
Promoted to single-A Modesto of the California League.

Robbie Weinhardt (Fire, 2005-06)
Promoted to the major league Detroit Tigers.

Duke Welker (Pilots, 2006)
Promoted to Bradenton of the single-A Florida State League.

Jace Whitmer (Pilots, 2007)
Sent down to rookie-level Danville of the Appalachian League.

Mark Willinsky (Miners, 2006)
Assigned to single-A Brevard County of the Florida State League.

Eric Wordekemper (Pilots, 2004)
Promoted to AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the International League. 2.95 ERA with 59K in 58 IP on the minor league season; 3.04 with 24K in 23.2 IP at the triple-A level.

Adam Younger (Oilers, 2007)
Promoted to AA Arkansas of the Texas League.

Austin Yount (Oilers, 2006)
Promoted to A Inland Empire of the California League.

Mike Zagurski (Pilots, 2004)
Had a stint in MLB, now back at Lehigh Valley (AAA).

Adam Zornes (Bucs, 2005-06)
Assigned to single-A Lake Elsinore of the California League.
