Hey, readers. I'm going to make a little programming note, here. I'll try to keep it short and I'd encourage everyone who is a regular reader of this blog to take a peek, but if you're only here for the baseball, stay plugged in because we'll have some other stuff shortly...
Anyway, that's another season in the books. We're heading into off-season mode here, but right off the bat I'd like to lay to rest any notion that this blog will be going into hibernation over the winter. In case you've just joined us this season, I started this blog in November and kept it going all winter with several posts a week, so you can expect nothing less this year.
What will likely happen is that the focus will shift to the former players of the ABL who are now off to other exploits. I've got a lot of catch-up to do on how our pro prospects are faring out there in the world of professional baseball, so that's one thing. Look for updates in that area.
And of course, there are our newest alumni, the players of this past season. I've assembled a lot of scouting notes and video clips which I plan to edit and release throughout the off-season. I have had numerous other bloggers and baseball fans approach me about players who used to play up here and ask for a scouting report, and this year I want to satisfy that need by having formal reports and videos whipped up and ready to go. The reports will probably take on a "strength/weakness" format similar to those on BaseballBeginnings.com.
Now, a note on those. These reports will just be my opinions, of course, and I'm no pro scout (and even if I were, they would still just be opinions. Much more experienced opinions, but opinions nonetheless). I encourage anyone who has a different take on a player to go ahead and leave their opinions as a comment. The more info on this site, the better! But at the same time, please be civil about it. I will respect your opinion and leave it posted up for the world to see as long as you respect mine.
Finally, a note to any parents out there. I know a few of you read this and I would like to encourage you to drop me a line from time to time to let me know how your boys are doing in baseball or life in general. Sometimes it's hard to keep track of all the former players out there, so if I miss some really cool news about your boy, just leave me a note and I'd be happy to write up anything (within reason, of course. I might not do a write-up on how sonny boy got a B+ in Calculus. But you can still send me a note, and I'll be glad to hear it).
Alright, that's that. On to the off-season. The Oilers appear to be beating the tar out of the Red Sox this morning so I'll have a recap of that soon!
