Box Score:

- The Glacier Pilots have posted a biography of their second-year infield recruit Trevor Hairgrove out of UC Riverside. Hairgrove -- who had 19 errors last season -- said he's looking forward to getting another crack at the ABL on Mulcahy's new turf infield. Now, I don't want to predict a 1.000 fielding percentage (so far on the young season he leads Riverside with 4 booted), but he may be onto something. In any event, I hope his second go-around goes better defense-wise than the first and he can come back up here and silence the critics. I imagine the Pilots will keep writing up bios for their players, which is cool, so keep checking on their recently-revamped site.

- Elsewhere in the UC system, Christian Bergman (Bucs, 2009) went the distance for Irvine today, throwing 9 innings of three-run ball. However, the most notable thing about his performance is that he struck out six while surrendering zero walks. I would say that his control was perfect but he managed to nail one batter.

- The Anchorage Bucs have announced their 6k fun run, the "Race to Home". It costs $20 to enter but you get a tee shirt (what's a run without a shirt, right?), a Bucs season pass, and of course some snackies. This all goes down on June 26th, and if I'm in town I'll be there. For more info, check out this link.

- Looking back at the week: on Thursday we looked at the AIA Fire's players to watch for 2010, which is one of my favorite type of article to write. Way back on Tuesday we unveiled the number 3 greatest ABL player ever: Jeff Kent. Kind of a slim week, I suppose, but watch out...next week will be jam packed (read below).

On Deck:

- Tickets for the Goldpanners' Midnight Sun Game go on sale Monday. This is one of the rare times that I would seriously recommend buying tickets in advance, because this is kind of a big deal, in case you hadn't heard. GoldPanners.com is super-informative and always up-to-date, so I'd check there on Monday if you want to get your tix early.

- It's my spring break! That means good stuff is going to happen. I've got at least three or four big projects planned for 49th State Hardball, and I'm going to roll out as many of them as possible over the next week. The first one is giving this whole joint a face-lift, and I'm pretty close to having a decent layout down, so look for that very soon. I've also got some prospect lists and other features in the works.

- Some other articles to look for this week: on Tuesday is #2 on the all-time ABL players countdown. We're getting really close to the top of the list now. Also, I didn't do a mid-week college recap so look for at least one of those, probably tomorrow (if my better half isn't running me ragged!). It's been a while since we've taken a look at some of our boys in DII, DIII, JuCo and NAIA so I'd like to make a post focusing on that part of the game. At some point I want to get back into the player previews, now that we have the AIA roster and 1/6 of the Pilots. And of course, at some point I will roll out the features above.
