The Anchorage Glacier Pilots and Peninsula Oilers have announced another pair of players who they have chosen to bring up for the 2010 season: Patrick Wisdom will play for the Kenai club while Clay Cederquist will don the blues of Anchorage's senior organization.

Clay Cederquist is a first year first-bagger out of Fresno State. As a freshman, Cederquist has seen limited playing time with the Bulldogs, but for what it's worth, he's hitting .455 with 2 runs, 4 RBI and a homer in just 11 at-bats. Perfect Game had a look at him as a high school prospect and had good things to say about him: he can drive the ball to all fields, he has plus bat-speed, power potential, plus soft hands and a good glove on the defensive end. Cederquist also has a reputation for bringing the intangibles to the field; he's got a good work ethic, gives everything his best both on and off the field, and has a generally positive attitude.

Cederquist has already gained the attention of pro scouts. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the late rounds as a high school senior, despite the fact that he was injured most of his senior year. Patrick made the choice to get in with a D1 school, which means that he's got a couple more seasons in the amateur leagues before MLB teams will get another shot at him, and we're fortunate to get a look at him this summer.

Freshman 3B Patrick Wisdom will join St. Mary's teammate Kyle Barraclough with the Oilers in 2010. Wisdom is also a freshman this year, but he's started 33 of 37 games for the Gaels this season and has proven that he belongs in the starting lineup. So far in 2010 he's hitting .305 (2nd on team) with 25 runs (1st), 28 RBI (2nd), 9 doubles (T-1st) and 8 HR (2nd).

The Oilers' press release notes that Wisdom can play all the infield bags, plus the outfield. This versatility is a plus, and it's legit; so far on the year he's only given up two errors, so he's obviously got the glove and the skills to find a place in the lineup. Patrick was chosen to the Toyota Academic Team and was a high-school honors student, which suggests that he's another guy that is willing to put in the hours and work required to succeed on and off the field.

With only a month left before the start of the ABL season, all the teams are shaping up their rosters for opening day. We've already looked at a few moves by the Panners, Oilers & Pilots; and I've got a look at some transactions made by the Fire during the preseason in the works. Plus stay tuned for our draft eligible analyses for each team; we've already covered the Bucs and the rest should be coming your way here shortly.
