Reflections: Oilers @ Bucs 6/23/2010

This is Ryan Pineda. He can run.
My daughter had soccer tonight (or else I would have actually been at the game!) and by the time I got the kids all in bed and everything it was already the 6th inning, and of course I only caught the audio, so I'm just going to offer a couple of quick thoughts for you all here before I go to bed.

Ryan Pineda got another steal for the Bucs. Oilers backstop Davis Page just held onto the ball; I don't blame him. If Pineda gets a good jump on your pitcher, why even bother? He's fast.

You all know I'm a big fan of grind-it-out baseball, so I've got to give out a couple of gold stars. The Oilers' Justin Charles bunted for at least one single, and if I heard correctly, two (anyone verify?). I will automatically go wild for anyone who bunts for a hit, no joke. I love that stuff. The other one goes to their shortstop Tyler Grimes for making the gritty stop in the ninth. That might have saved the Oilers' bacon as the Bucs were threatening to rally back. Way to get the jersey dirty with the game on the line.

The Bucs' Ty Griffith did really well again tonight. I saw him in person at my last Bucs outing and it's pretty cool to see him have success in this league with his hometown team.

Finally...the Poofy Puffin Upholstery Place. Kenai-area businesses have the craziest names, like "The Moose is Loose". I love that place. I need to get down there to see me some Oilers home games!

That's about it! Nothing else I feel qualified to comment on for this evening. I was going to pull up the Panners/Fire game on PannerVision but it ended extremely quickly...now that I think of it, it was a seven inning doubleheader. Oops! Anyhow, I'll be at the Bucs game FOR REAL on Friday (uh...spoke too soon. Might change my plans. Will let you know.) so anyone at the game is welcome to track me down to say hello. I think I'm going to try and sit in the grandstand for that game since I already have lots of photos for both teams; I might try to do some pitch tracking or something of that sort. I was also entertaining the idea of having a little pre-game get together for drinks or something. If anyone is interested in that, let me know! We can meet up at a nearby watering hole a few hours before the game and shoot the breeze.
