The College Baseball Blog has a running series in which they count down the top 100 U.S. College players. It should come as no surprise to anyone who followed the Glacier Pilots in 2009, but Gonzaga hurler Ryan Carpenter has cracked the list at #59.
I'm not going to reinvent the wheel here, so I'll just give you a link to CBB's brief update about Carpenter's exploits outside of the ABL. However, Pilots fans might remember that Carpenter was a stingy pitcher, limiting hitters to a paltry .135 BAA and racking up 54 strikeouts on 40.1 IP. He gave up 10 earned over that span, which is good enough for a 0.67 ERA. Ryan was also selected to the ABL All-Star team and ranked by Baseball America as the #2 prospect among 2009 ABLers. Despite being drafted by Tampa Bay in 2008, Carpenter chose to hit the books in Spokane where he'll be entering his Junior year.
